Brother published a number of different series of fashion magazines. They include Brother fashion issues 1-11 (CD 3), Brother Machine Knitting Fashion issues 1-14 (CD 2), and Brother Fashion volumes 1-13 (CD 1). They also published Stitchin’Time which pre-date those others with some desperately old fashioned stuff in the early mags although the later ones 1980 to 1982 have some interesting designs in them. Why Brother didn’t round up their magazine collections to, say, 14 issues each, we will never know. It is like someone had ideas but never finished the projects. Machine knitting fashion since the 80’s hasn’t altered that much even though the knitting machines did. The later Brother Fashion volumes (CD 1) catered for those who bought garter carriages & knitleaders as well as those who did’nt buy those accessories. The actual printing layout of these magazines makes them appear a better buy than the others as they have attractive full-page photos of the modelled garments & a nicer font is used for the typed instructions. ***BIG NOTE HERE: The Brother Fashion volumes are NOT filled with patterns from the other magazine collections. You will find 2 or 3 are repeats, but that is 2 or 3 out of hundreds. The Brother Machine Knitting Fashion issues (CD 2) are filled with about the same amount of patterns as CD 1 and include far more practical designs plus pages of pattern sheets/charts. The Brother Fashion issues (CD 3) do not have a huge amount of patterns in them which is why I have added extra magazines to the CD. It has only recently dawned on me that the `ordinary` patterns I have been hunting for are in the second 2 CD’s! CD 7 has 1980’s Knitmaster books, which, in my opinion, were some of the nicest patterns around. Knitmaster is known by another name nowdays, the Silver knitting machine. Suitable for all Japanese knitting machines, the only real difference between Brother & Knitmaster/Silver/Studio/Singer, being the tension, Brother knitting a longer stitch. A metric conversion chart is included on each CD
