PANTS: Ch 47 (53-59); being careful not to twist chain, join with a sI st in corner ch-2 of bib forming circle.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), (dc in each of 3 dc, dc in ch-1 sp) 4 times, dc in each ch around---64 (70-76) dc. Join with a sl st in top of ch 3. End off; do not turn. Rnd 2: Sk next dc, join another color in next dc, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 1, sk next dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1 (mark for center front), 2 dc in same dc, (ch 1, sk next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc) 10 (11-12) times, sk next dc, ch 1, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1 (mark for center back), 2 dc in same dc, (ch 1, sk next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc) 8 (9-10) times, ch 1, sl st in top of ch 3, sl st in next dc and in next sp. Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in ch-1 sp, (* ch 1, 2 dc in next ch-1 sp, repeat from * to marked ch-1 sp, work 2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc in marked ch-1 sp) twice, ch 1, 2 dc in each ch-1 sp around, end sI st in top of ch 3, sI st in next dc and in next sp. Repeat rnd 3 once. End off. Rnd 5: With another color make lp on hook, * 2 dc in any ch-1 sp, ch 1, repeat from * around, join with sI st in top of first dc, sI st in next dc and in next sp. Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in ch-1 sp, * ch 1, 2 dc in next sp, repeat from * around, ch 1, sI st in top of ch 3, sI st in next dc and in next sp. End off. Repeat rnds 5 and 6 until piece measures 61/2" (7"-71/2") from starting ch. End off. Next Rnd: With color used on rnd 1, dc in each st and ch-1 sp around. End off.
Shape Crotch: With last color used, dc in each of 8 dc across center back of pants.
FINISHING: Weave crotch to front. Work 1 rnd dc around each leg opening.
STRAPS (make 2): With color used on last row of bib, ch 6. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each of next 2 ch. Turn. Row 2: Ch 3, sk first dc, dc in each of next 2 dc, dc in top of ch 3. Turn. Repeat last row until strap measures 14" (15"- 16"). End off. Sew one end of each strap to back edge of pants, 4 sts each side of center back. Sew a button to other end of strap.
Front Edging: Join yarn with sc in top corner of bib, sc in first dc, ch 1 for buttonhole, sk next dc, sc in each st to within last 2 dc on top edge, ch 1 for buttonhole, sk next dc, sc in each of next 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. Next Row: Sc in each st across. End off. Steam-press lightly.

3rd Ring: Square No. 3 (make 8): With any desired color, ch 4, join with a sl st to form ring. Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), make 2 dc in ring, ch 2, * 3 dc in ring, ch 2, repeat from * twice, join last ch 2 to top of ch 3 with a sl st (4 groups of 3 dc in ring). End off. Bib: Square No. 4 (make 9): Work same as for square No. 3 to end of rnd 1. Joining: Sew squares tog forming a square 3 by 3.
STRAPS (make 2): With any desired color, ch 8. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each of next 4 ch. Turn. Row 2: Ch 3, sk first dc, dc in each of next 3 dc and in top of ch 3. Turn. Repeat row 2, changing colors as desired until strap measures 13" (14"-15") or desired length. Work 2nd strap in same color sequence.
FINISHING: From right side, work 1 rnd hdc around upper edge of skirt. If necessary, work hdc around elastic cut to waist measurement. Sew bib across two squares of skirt. From right side, work 1 row hdc around bib. Sew straps to back of skirt: sew button to other end of straps. Ch-2 corner sps on bib form buttonholes. Steam-press lightly.

SIZES: Directions for size 6 months. Changes for size 1 are in parentheses. Body Chest Size: 19" (20"). Blocked Chest Size: 20" (22").
JACKET: Body: Beg at lower edge of striped section for back and fronts, with any desired color, ch 82 (92). Cut yarn, join another color. Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next ch and in each ch across-83 (93) dc. Cut yarn; join another color. Turn. Row 2: Ch 3, sk first dc, dc in next dc and in each dc across. Cut yarn; join another color. Turn. Using desired colors, repeat row 2 until piece measures about 3-1/4" (4") from start or 3" less (border allowance) than desired length to underarm. Turn. Check gauge; piece should measure 18-1/2" (20-1/2") wide.
Divide Work: Right Front: Ch 3, sk first dc, dc in each of next 20 (22) dc. Cut yarn; join another color. Turn. Working on these 21 (23) dc, work 3" (3-1/2"). End off.
Shape Neck and Shoulder: Leaving 7 (8) dc free at front edge, work even on remaining 14 (15) dc until armhole measures 4" (4-1/2") above start of armhole. End off.
Back: Keeping to same color sequence as right front, join yarn in next dc on last long row, ch 3, dc in next dc and in. each of next 39 (45) dc. Turn. Work even until armhole measures same as right front. End off.
Left Front: Keeping to color sequence, join yarn in next dc on last long row, ch 3, dc in next dc and in each dc across. Complete same as right front. Sew shoulders.
SLEEVE: Join any desired color at underarm, ch 3, work 2 dc in edge of each row around armhole, join with a sl st in top of starting ch 3. End off; join another color. Do not turn. Next Rnd: Ch 3, dc in next dc and in each dc around, join with a sl st. End off; join another color. Repeat last rnd, dec 1 dc at underarm every 1" 6 times. Work even until sleeve measures 7" (8") from start. Work other sleeve in same manner.
SQUARES: With any desired color, ch 4, join with a sl st to form ring., Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), make 2 dc in ring, ch 2, * 3 dc in ring, ch 2, repeat from * twice, join last ch 2 to top of ch 3 with a sl st (4 groups of 3 dc in rnd). End off. Rnd 2: Join another color in a ch-2 sp, ch 3, dc in same sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, * dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next ch-2, sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same ch-2 sp, repeat from * twice, dc in each of next 3 dc, join with a sl st to top of starting ch 3. End off. Make 8 (9) squares. Join Squares: Sew squares tog forming a strip 8 (9) squares long.
FINISHING: Sew edge of strip to lower edge of back and fronts. Edging: Join any desired color at lower side edge. Rnd 1: From right side, work hdc around outer edge, working 2 hdc in each lower front and neck corner; join with a sl st in first hdc. End off; join another color. Rnd 2: Repeat rnd 1. Rnd 3: * Sc in each of next 4 hdc, ch 3, sc in last sc (picot made), repeat from * around, join with a sl st in first sc. End off.
Block. Sew five buttons, evenly spaced, on left front edge for girl, right front edge for boy. Spaces between hdc on rnd 2 of edging form buttonholes.

Row 2: 3 dc in first ch-1 sp, (ch 11 3 dc in next ch-1 sp) twice, ch 1, 3 dc in last sp. End off; join another color. Row 3: 3 dc in 3rd ch from hook, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp, 3 dc in top of ch 3. End off; leave end for sewing.
Joining: Beg at lower edge of front, following chart, sew motifs tog catching. back lps of sts only. Do not join sleeves to body. Work 1 row dc across armhole edge of each sleeve; then join sleeves to body. Do not join side edges.
FINISHING: From right side, work 1 row hdc around neck and front opening edge.
I think you could "fake it" here and crochet a cuff? haven't made this pattern:
Cuffs (make 2): With any desired color and No. 4 needles, cast on 28 sts. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 2". Bind off loosely in ribbing. Sew bound-off edge of cuffs to sleeves. Fold work across shoulders; sew side and sleeve seams. From right side, beg at right side edge, work 1 row dc around lower edge. Join with a sl st to top of first dc. Ch 2, turn. Working across back sts only, work 3 rows dc, then 1 row sc. End off. Sew five buttons evenly spaced across lower front edge; spaces between dc on back edge form buttonholes.
TIES (make 4): With 2 strands of any desired colors, make ch 10" long. Sew two ties to each edge of front opening as pictured. Tie ends.
Today's Granny Squares, 1971
SIZE: About 20" square MATERIALS: Knitting worsted, 2 oz. Dark rose (color R), 1 oz. Each light pink (L), bright pink (B) and purple (P). Aluminum crochet hook size G, or size required to crochet to gauge. GAUGE: 7 sc = 2"; 4 rows = 1"
PONCHO: Starting at neck edge with B, ch 61 to measure 18". Join with sl st to form ring. Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around (60 sc); join with sl st to first sc. Break off B; attach P. Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, increasing 3 sts evenly spaced (to inc, work 2 sc in 1 sc); join. Break off P; attach L. Repeat 2nd rnd 7 times more, working stripes of 1 rd each of L, R, B, L, P, R, B. Work 1 more stripe each of L and P, increasing 6 sc on each rnd (96 sc). Break off. Rnd 12: With R, form lp on hook, * (work 3 dc in next sc [shell made], ch 1, skip next 2 sc) 7 times; 3 dc in next sc, ch 1, 3 dc in same sc (comer made), ch 1, skip next 2 sc. Repeat from * 3 times more; skip last 2 sc; join. Rnd 13: Ch 3, 2 dc in base of ch-3, ch 1, (3 dc in next sp, ch 1) 7 times; work corner in next corner sp, * ch 1, (3 dc in next sp, ch 1) 8 times; work corner in next corner sp. Repeat from * twice more; join.
Continuing in this manner, working 1 more shell on each rnd between corners, work 4 more rnds with R, 3 rnds L, 2 rnds B (17 shells between corners on last rnd). Break off.
Fringe:Cut P into 3" strips. Work 1 tassel in each st around last rnd as follows: Fold 1 strip in half. Pull lp through st from front to back, then pull ends through lp and tighten.

Needle: One "Boye" crochet hook Size J Gauge: 1 pat to 1 inch; 5 rows to 4 ins.
First Half: With Color A-ch 57 (63-69). Row 1: 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, * skip 2 ch, 1 dc in next ch, ch 1, 1 dc in first of the skipped ch, repeat from * across, end 1 dc in each of last 2 ch working off last 2 loops of last dc with Color B, ch 3, turn. Row 2: With B-1 dc in next dc, * skip 2, 1 dc in next dc, ch 1, 1 dc in first of the skipped sts, repeat from * across, end 1 dc in last dc, 1 dc in turning ch, work off last 2 loops of last dc with Color C, ch 3, turn.
There are 17 (19-21) pats with 2 dc at beg and end of row. Width is 19 (21-23) inches. Repeat Row 2 for pat, working next row with Color C then 1 row each of Colors A, B & C until there are 10 (13-16) rows from start, ch 3, do not turn. Work 8 (10-12) pats along short edge, end 1 dc at foundation chain. Fasten off.
Work 2nd half the same
Leaving the 8 (10-12) pats at short edge free for outer edge, sew other edge to long side. Join other side the same.
Fringe: Cut 5-inch strands. Fold 2 in half and draw through corner st then draw ends through loop and tighten. Repeat in every 3rd st along outer edges.
